Maenporth Electrical Ltd installed a five-camera CCTV system for a domestic property in the Penryn and Falmouth area. The installation was designed to give the customer practical security coverage, straightforward access to live camera views and reliable storage of recorded footage.
The system uses five Hikvision Power over Ethernet (PoE) security cameras. PoE technology allows each camera to receive power and transmit data through the same network cable, providing a practical basis for a hard-wired domestic CCTV installation.
As well as recording footage with 30 days of backup storage, the system provides two convenient ways to view the cameras. Live images can be monitored locally on a dedicated 20-inch screen or accessed remotely through an app on a compatible phone or tablet.
Five-camera domestic CCTV system
The installation centred on five Hikvision PoE cameras serving the residential property. Using several cameras enables the CCTV system to provide multiple live views rather than relying on a single viewpoint.

A 20-inch monitor was included to provide a clear local live view of the camera feeds. This gives the customer a convenient way to check the property from inside without needing to open the mobile app each time.
The monitor presents the CCTV feeds together in a multi-camera layout. This is particularly useful for day-to-day use because several areas can be viewed from one place, making the system easy to check at a glance.
Remote CCTV access by phone or tablet
Remote live viewing was also provided through an app for use on a phone or tablet. This complements the fixed monitor by allowing the customer to access live camera images when they are away from the local viewing screen.
The two viewing options serve different practical needs. The 20-inch monitor provides an always-available local display at the property, while app access offers the flexibility to view the system remotely from a compatible mobile device.
Recorded footage and backup storage
Alongside live viewing, the CCTV system includes 30 days of backup storage. This recording period allows the customer to look back at stored footage rather than being limited to what is happening on the cameras at that moment.
Combining live monitoring with recorded footage makes the system more useful as a complete domestic security installation. The customer can check the live feeds locally or remotely and refer back to recordings when required.
